Leon Lollipop

About the Artist

Leon Lai, also known as LeonLollipop, is a talented artist and designer celebrated for his innovative creations. He is the original creator of the viral character “Gloomie the Cat with Cheeks.” With a master’s degree in design from St. Martin’s College of Art in London, Leon has earned numerous design awards, including the prestigious British D&AD Design Award. His work has been showcased in prominent art exhibitions across Milan, London, Tokyo, and Seoul.

Leon has collaborated with major global brands, including Samsung, Ermenegildo Zegna, Michael Kors, SPCA, and Pacific Coffee. Over the years, his designs have also been featured in popular magazines, advertisements, and campaigns, cementing his reputation as a creative force behind “Gloomie the Cat with Cheeks.”

At the heart of LeonLollipop’s artistic journey is “Gloomie the Cat with Cheeks,” a character that captures a wide spectrum of human emotions. Inspired by the bond between people and cats, Leon designed Gloomie to evoke sentiments of love, support, and joy. Gloomie’s cheerful and relatable personality has made the character a favorite among fans.

Beyond his illustrations and animations, Leon has also created limited-edition plush dolls of Gloomie, which have sold out quickly due to high demand. The popularity of these designs has brought joy to cat lovers and art enthusiasts alike.

In addition to his design work, Leon is an avid photographer who finds inspiration in Hong Kong’s vibrant markets and unique spaces. He often captures the lively scenes at the Yata Market in Shatin, Aisle D at Tai Po, and the Hong Kong Flower Market in Prince Edward. Leon’s favorite spot for photography is the Stanley Market, where he enjoys documenting the charm of this “world-weary face” location.

Through his photography and design, LeonLollipop seamlessly blends creativity with a heartfelt connection to people and places, leaving an enduring impact on his audience.
